..from the popular What a Load of Crap segment on The Dr. Kevin Show.
Let’s get this right out in the open: I DO NOT THINK every word the bible said is the literal word of God or anyone else. I DO NOT IDENTIFY as someone who thinks the only way to GOD is through Jesus. But, overall, Jesus was a pretty cool dude and he brought a great deal of enlightened thinking into humanity.
When people are going to use the Bible or Jesus as a weapon, I wish they would at least be consistent within their attacks. Those who pick, choose, and ignore what doesn’t work for them, they self-justify behaviors that would make Jesus roll-over in the grave. Oops! That’s right. No grave. Okay, roll over in the clouds then, how’s that?
Recently, I came across what was not only bigoted but judgmental behavior by the headmistress of a Christian School.
So first, let’s tell the story:
Little eight year old girl likes to wear her hair short, play in the dirt and wear jeans and her grandparents get a “your child is not welcome to come back”, citing their clause against non-Christian sexual orientation and gender confusion, (neither one actually applied) and said:
“However, we believe that unless Sunnie, as well as her family, clearly understands that God has made her female and her dress and behavior need to follow suit with her God ordained identity, that TCS is not the best place for her future education.”

Mrs. Brown have you ever read Matthew 7:1-3?
7 Judge not, that ye be not judged.2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
As far as dress goes, according to one respected Christian source:
Jesus had defied the standards of first-century male-dominated society by treating women as equals.
Now as everyone knows, Jesus was quite the rebel and really stirred things up. As a revolutionary, he was the leader used to split off from Judaism and put behind him the Old Testament wrath of God and judgment stuff. He was used as the figure head to start the catholic church.
Put according to 1 Corinthians 11:4-7:
Any man who prays or prophesies with something on his head disgraces his head, but any woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled disgraces her head--it is one and the same thing as having her head shaved. For if a woman will not veil herself, then she should cut off her hair; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut off or to be shaved, she should wear a veil. For a man ought not to have his head veiled, since he is the image and reflection of God; but woman is the reflection of man.
Men need to be punished for wearing head coverings (hats) in church and woman need to be punished for NOT wearing head coverings in church-mmm sound familiar?
Now Mrs. Bowman, I didn’t find anywhere that Jesus forbids jeans, tee shirts or a little girl having fun in the dirt.
1 Timothy 2:9-10 says: I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
Were the jeans ripped? Was the tee shirt clinging? Oh, by the way, does your school enforce the practice that any of its female children (or adults like you Mrs. Bowman) who don’t wear head covering in church need to be thrown out? Because remember in good old 1 Corinthians 11:4-7, as stated above: men because they are the “reflection of God” need naked heads and women, because they are only the reflection of man, need covered ones. Which leads me to this question, did you screw this up so badly because you are only a woman? It is not my belief system, but certainly part of yours. So where is the consistency?
Or are you just ready to take off the mask and expose this for what it is: an act of homophobic bigotry and a control issue?
